Claire Hummel

I saw Claire’s work from her series of “Historically accurate Disney Princesses”, which I thought was an interesting concept for a series of illustrations. I was kept by her beautiful renderings (and, oddly enough, historically accurate depictions of Disney Princesses….). I’m personally in love with the stylizations of the human body she uses, as well as the animal designs. Everything is very fluid but solid – it happens too often that people design the body without thinking of real function, and things end up PRETTY but not WORKABLE. This, perhaps only as an artist, bothers me. But Claire does a wonderful job of combining the two, and puts icing on the cake by having such wonderful rendering.

And I hate pugs, but oh boy, do I love that pen and ink illustration.
